Classification of CNC Work Center

CNC Work Center are often divided into vertical CNC Work Center, horizontal CNC Work Center, gantry CNC Work Center and universal CNC Work Center according to the state of the spindle in space. A CNC Work Center whose spindle is vertical in space is called a vertical CNC Work Center, and a CNC Work Center whose spindle is horizontal in space is called a horizontal CNC Work Center.

(1) Vertical CNC Work Center: The structure is mostly fixed column type, and the workbench is rectangular, suitable for processing disc, plate and plate parts. Vertical CNC Work Center usually have three linear motion coordinates, XYZ axes, and a fourth axis A-axis can be installed on the workbench.

The vertical CNC Work Center is easy to clamp, easy to operate, easy to observe the processing situation, and convenient to debug the program. However, due to the influence of the height of the column and the tool change mechanism, it cannot process parts that are too high. The vertical CNC Work Center has a simple structure, a small footprint, and a low price.

(2) Horizontal CNC Work Center: Usually a movable column is used, and the main spindle box is between the two columns and moves up and down along the guide rail. Horizontal CNC Work Center usually have three linear motion coordinates. Facing the machine tool, the X-axis moves left and right, the Z-axis moves forward and backward, and the Y-axis moves up and down. (3) Gantry CNC Work Center: Most of its spindles are set vertically, equipped with an ATC system and replaceable spindle head accessories. The system software has many functions, can be used for multiple purposes, and is suitable for processing large parts.

(4) Universal CNC Work Center: The universal CNC Work Center is a five-sided CNC Work Center. It has the functions of a vertical CNC Work Center and a horizontal CNC Work Center. After the workpiece is clamped once, it can complete the processing of all sides and top surfaces except the mounting surface. Common universal CNC Work Center include:

1. The spindle can rotate 90° and can work like a vertical CNC Work Center or a horizontal CNC Work Center.

2. The spindle does not change direction, and the workbench rotates 90° with the workpiece. Complete processing of five sides.
