Countertops are central to kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial buildings, requiring precise, consistent cuts and superior quality to meet both aesthetic and functional needs. Traditional cutting methods rely heavily on manual labor, resulting in inconsistent cut quality, material waste, and long production cycles. However, the CNC bridge cutting machine perfectly integrates automation, versatility, and precision, revolutionizing countertop cutting and capable of processing a wide range of materials from granite and marble to quartz and engineered stone.
What is a 4+1 Axis CNC Bridge Saw & Why It's Ideal for Countertop Cutting?
What is a 4+1 Axis CNC Bridge Saw ?
Before diving into the cutting process, it's essential to understand what is 4+1 axis CNC bridge saw machines. A 4+1 axisCNC bridge saw features four full motion axes (X, Y, Z, and C) plus a A-axis Driven by cylinde, and an independent electric spindle("+1") for milling faucet hole, basin hole, inner angle and small curves. This design balances flexibility and precision, making it perfect for countertop fabrication-where complex cuts (like sink holes, bevels) and large material slabs are common.
Why It's Ideal for Countertop Cutting?
Key advantages for countertop cutting include:
1. Precision: CNC automation eliminates human error and achieves consistent cutting accuracy with a ±0.1mm/meter tolerance across various of materials.
2. Versatility: Straight cuts, curved cuts, sink holes, faucet holes, rounded corners, irregular shapes etc.
3. Material Compatibility: Can safely cut various stones (granite, marble, quartz, pocelain...with high-efficiency and accuracy
4. Efficiency: Reduce setup time, material waste, and labor costs compared to manual cutting
Preparations Before Cutting Countertops with 4+1 Axis CNC Bridge Saw
Proper preparation is critical to avoid mistakes, material damage, and machine downtime. Follow these steps to get ready:
1. Inspect Material&Choose Right Tools
Countertop materials vary in hardness, and thickness-factors that influence tool selection and cutting parameters.
Inspect the slab for flaws (cracks, veins, inclusions) before cutting. Mark weak points to adjust the cutting path and avoid the possibility of breaking the material during processing.
Essential tools include:
- Diamond Blades: Inner hole diameter 50mm, and outer diameter 350-425mm.
- Milling Bits: For detailed cuts (sink holes, faucet holes) and small curves. The length shall be within 100mm, and diameter suggested to be 8~16mm.
2. Set Up the Slab & Machine
-Position the countertop slab on the machine's worktable,4+1 CNC Axis Bridge Saw's table can flip 85degree for easy loading slabs.
-Check the Machine's Electricity/water/Vacuum Air are ready for the processing.

3. Program the CNC Machine
The 4+1 CNC Axis Bridge Saw has two methods of programming:
- Use Shape Library
The system contains a shape library including normal shapes like circel, square, Rectangular, horse belly, L-shape countertop, etc. Choose the shape, put into data(length, width, chamfer/not chamfer, etc.) and place it on suitable position of the slab, and click corresponding button to generate cutting steps, the 4+1 CNC Axis Bridge Saw will process accord to the design automatically.
-Use .dxf Format file form CAD Software
The .dxf format files from CAD or from countertop template measuring gauge can be imported into the system. Place it on suitable position of the slab, and click corresponding button to generate cutting steps, the 4+1 CNC Axis Bridge Saw will process accord to the design automatically.
4. Keep Workers away from the machine before Cutting.
An indisputable safety procedure is that all personnel must be strictly kept away from the machine and its work area before any cutting operation begins. Only authorized operators may work nearby, and a safe distance must be maintained. This measure is crucial for reducing avoidable workplace accidents and ensuring compliance with industrial safety standards.
Process to Cut Countertops with 4+1 Axis CNC Bridge Saw
1. Load slabs on the worktable
2. Preset Tools
3. Import .dxf file from CAD to machine's CNC system
4. Place the CAD design on suitable position of the slab. The equipped Camera can catch the image of the worktable along with the slab image, operators can place the design on suitable position consideraion material Utilization or Slab pattern.
5. Generate Cutting Stepped and run the code.
6. The mahcine wil automatically mill fauce hole, basin hole, small curves by milling bites. A group of rotation cylinders will clamp clab automatically during milling work to avoid slab movement and ensure processing precision.
7. The machine will automatically change from milling bits to blade to do straight cuts, bevel cuts
